Munger (मुंगेर), a very famous historical place of Bihar , along the northern coast of river Ganga,
a city of historical importance is situated named Munger.It is said
that Rishi Dirghtma had invented some of the part of trigveda in Munger.
On this land of Rishi Mudgal, God Ram had taken rest in his period of
vanvas, and also Mata sita had given her ”AGNIPARIKSHA”.
Munger had faced many ups and down from ruling of Danveer Karna,
Buddha-Mahaveer till Sikandar lodi and Meer Kasim. In Adhunik Kaal, Poet
Ravindra had written few lines of Gitanjali. Anand Marg’s mentor
Prabhat Ranjan S arkaar had got his learnings from munger. On the
historical land of Munger, the true and heart thrilling stories of
freedom fighters are spread all over.In
the British time it’s importance was great .That days it was known a
Monghyr & it has a rich cultural parts . :- MeerQaseem ( मीरकासिम) ka surang , Sita Kund , Rishi Kund ,Chandi asthan (sacred place ) these are the famous ancient heritage of Munger . In Mahabharata times (महाभारत काल) its name was Modgiri (मोदगिरी) . Munger was the capital of Bengal's last Nabab MeerQaseem . Munger was famous
for the manufacture of iron products like swords and firearms. It was
conquered by Mohammad Khilji in 1197, and is mentioned as a place of
strategic military importance in the chronicles of that period. During
Akbar’s regime, Monghyr was the seat of power of his general, Todar Mal
and later Nawab Mir Quasim shifted the capital from Murshidabad to
Munger, to stay away from British control. Surrounded by the Ganges on
three sides and Kharagpur hills on the other side, He has created a
Tunnel from Fort to otherside of Ganga River for safe escafe Munger
is a nature lover’s paradise. Quiet, serene and picturesque, with many
religious and historic locations Munger remains a popular travel
destination. In the “Mahabharata “ time it was the empire of King “ Karna “ & wel known as “Ang Pradesh “ till date .
